This mixed woodland is located on the southern side of the Ffestiniog valley, close to the mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and just over a mile from the picturesque village of Maentrwog, home of the excellent Grapes Hotel.
The gated parking area for the wood is located on a minor road, just of the A496. From the car park the access into the wood is on foot. Walk down the minor road to the junction with the A496 and then up a set of steps on the right-hand side of the road. From the top of the steps continue east parallel to the main road and the woodland is on the right.
Walking up from the lower boundary it can be seen that the trees are growing in strips of various different species. As you progress up the slope you will cross bands of Hemlock and Larch, and then enter more open areas of broadleaf trees such as Sweet Chestnut, Beech and Ash: here the woodland is bright and many ferns carpet the ground and mosses cover the trees. You may also spot the remains of several old tracks that occasionally traverse the woodland. Continuing towards the top boundary of the wood, the land levels off into a denser and more shaded area that is dominated by quite mature Spruce. When the top of the wood is reached, spectacular views across the valley can be glimpsed between the trees. This small flatter piece of land at the top of the woodland could possibly be made into a very private and secluded area for woodland activities.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
Boundaries:
The northern boundary runs along close to the access track. Both the western and eastern boundaries adjoin other private woodland. The southern boundary borders farmland and is fenced. All boundaries are marked in blue.

Take the A487 towards Maentwrog, either approaching from the south from Dolgellau, or from the west from Porthmadog. After travelling for just over a mile take the first road on the right. Continue up the hill and park by the first gated entrance on the left. Please take care not to block the access. If you continue too far along the main road you will see our 'Woodlands For Sale' sign board on the right.
