Riggle's wood, Devon - About 2 acres, £25,000

Riggle's wood

Riggle's wood is an accessible level woodland, great for camping and offering a mix of  established broadleaved trees. The woodland floor is clear giving good internal access to the wood and there is also a large clearing giving a good usable space for camping, picnicking or woodland crafts. The western boundary is a good example of a traditional Beech-dominated hedge bank. It is situated in a beautiful area of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within 20 miles of Lyme Bay and provides a perfect base for exploring the local Jurassic coasts line which extends to Portland harbour.  The nearby market town of Honiton has lots to offer with many antique dealers alongside excellent public houses. For more information see http://www.devon-online.com/towns/honiton/honiton.htm. Wildlife is prevalent in the woodland with deer, foxes, woodpeckers and jays all having been seen by the local manager.  A forestry contractor tells the tale of going with his friends to the woods, a long time ago, when they were children to gather sweet chestnuts to roast on their open fires - something the new owner could follow!

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
